i tested other cards that use the word "spell", and thei dont consider criatures as spells for their conditions.one example is flame channeler , it transforms when " a spell you controll deals damage"
an it ignores creatures, both combat and effect damage, so the "everithing is a spell" hipotesis cant be correct -

112.1. A spell is a card on the stack. As the first step of being cast (see rule 601, “Casting Spells”), the
card becomes a spell and is moved to the top of the stack from the zone it was in, which is usually
its owner’s hand. (See rule 405, “Stack.”) A spell remains on the stack as a spell until it resolves
(see rule 608, “Resolving Spells and Abilities”), is countered (see rule 701.5), or otherwise leaves
the stack. For more information, see section 6, “Spells, Abilities, and Effects.”112.1a A copy of a spell is also a spell, even if it has no card associated with it. See rule 707.10.
112.1b Some effects allow a player to cast a copy of a card; if the player does, that copy is a spell as
well. See rule 707.12. -

Does it have a casting cost? If yes, it's a spell, even if the cost is 0 or X and the chosen X was 0.

what sounds not rigth. a nonland is a nonland, why wold so many cards use this linguage if it was not "all bud land".
also aint the player a planeswalker? so the planeswalker is like a character, not a spell.
i dont get your logic, its backward , like, you se the bugy behaviour of a card and asume that "maybe everithing is a spell" , as if , maybe the beheviour is right but the text is wrong? them i get it. but mayby its rigth and the texxst is rigth and de rules are wrong? that logic i dont get. -

Every card not played as a land is a spell. Every object on the stack put there through the process of casting a spell, is a cast spell. Painful Quandary does not just look for instants and sorceries, but all manner of spells: creature spells, artifact spells, enchantment spells, planeswalker spells, instant spells, and sorecery spells.
