MTG Arena
Dear Support,
sometimes in Magic life you have extraordinary moments. Ever since I play Magic I had two of these moments.
In 2003 at the Magic Worlds I played a side event and won in a field of 49 people. The prize was the original painting of a magic card. It is still valuable to me and on a wall in my apartment.
Then on last new years eve it was the winning of the festival in a box event. Six wins in a row in chaos sealed. I felt so fantastic. Of course I was also looking forward to getting the prize.
The sad part starts now. WotC wrote to me, that only players from the US are elegitble to get the prize. Can you imagine my inner downfall? This smallprint was not visible to me when I joined the event. There might have been a link to the terms and conditions, but honestly, who looks that up and reads it completely?
This is why I write to you. That is a seriouse bug. It should not have been possible for me to join the event in the first place. It is a simple check, all the data is there. So please fix this for future similar events.
I can't forget the final answer of WotC custumer support when I asked them if they could do an exception. I mean, it should not be a problem to make an exception and send the box to Germany. I was even willing to handle customs (if there are any cost there). And also I suggested to send the box to a friend in the US, that way nothing special for WotC.
The answer is here:
„Hello,
Based on the FESTIVAL IN A BOX EVENT - TERMS AND CONDITIONS[https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/mtg-arena/festival-in-a-box-event-terms-and-conditions] your appeal has been denied. This decision is final and replies to this email may not receive a response.

Wizards of the Coast“
Rather rude in my opinion. Even no real name written below it. To whom did I talk? The first answers from the support with real names on them have been rather polite.
In any case, towards a longtime customer who did spend thousands of Euro for this wonderfull game I would have expected a more empathic answer
I think this also is an offense to all the players I did win against. Especially the final one who would have gained the price instead of me.
As you can read, support made a final decision. But, maybe there is someone there reading this and feels there is a more human part in this. Someone that should overruel working according to the book if there are special cases. Maybe someone sees the once in a life time experience that happends there and sees the importance to rule my heart and grants the prize.
Warm regards
Thomas alias Dai Shan

The fine print was clearly visible on the event sign-up page. You just didn't read it.
