Priority Bug? | Flame Sweep & triggered ability*
Have noticed this in many games, but the particular cards mentioned is a recorded incident.
I have Sanctum Weaver(s) on the field (and in previous, unrecorded incidents had instants in hand). I play a card that has an "enters the battlefield" ability (in this particular instance, Kami of Bamboo Groves). When the card enters the battlefield, and its ability triggers, opponent plays a damaging card (in this particular instance, Flame Sweep) in response to the Kami's triggered ability and the opponent's Flame Sweep resolves instantly without allowing any response.
MtG rules can get a bit weird sometimes, and I may have overlooked something, but I could find nothing in the rules to say that cards/abilities/mana abilities can not be activated at the time. Nor could I find any reason that it should allow them to respond to the ability but then immediately resolve the Flame Sweep with no further response. The damage itself does not use the stack, but the Flame Sweep being cast should.

The rules allow a response, but certain card effects, like a Kutzil or Myrel, disallow casting on your opponent's turn, for example. Other cards with similar restrictions to one or both players do exist. Most likely, something like that was on the battlefield.
