Paths of tuinvale
Game does not appear to differentiate between cards, I own and cards I control.
I cast the reality chip in play,
Opponent played thieving skydiver and took my reality chip
I tried to cast paths of tuinvale targeting my creature and the reality chip that my opponent stole, but it would not allow me to target.

Yep, the Reality Chip is equipped, so it is not a creature, and thus not a valid target for your spell. (Creatures can't be attached to permanents. If that somehow happens, they unattach as a state based action. Hence why reconfigue removes the creature card type from the equipment when it gets attached. Doesn't have to get attached via reconfigure for that to happen, the card just have to have reconfigure.)

Pretty sure that Equipment Creatures are seen as just Equipment when they're equipped.
