Phyrexian unlife not giving counters without or allowing the game to end/PC. life goes into negative. no other combo cards present
Phyrexian unlife does not apply counters, life just goes negative without any other combo pieces present. IT just makes it impossible for the player to lose through damage. I will attach the log which includes a historic match showing this where they go to -20 life rather than losing or getting poison counters without solemnity or similar effect present

And how did the opponent lose this life? If it was through direct "lose life"effects, then Phyrexian Unlife has nothing to apply to. It takes actual DAMAGE to make it apply. Loss of life is not the same as damage, but damage can, and most often does, cause loss of life.
