Rewards, compensation, and pack contents for players who complete entire sets.
Players from the region where I live (Northern S.F. Bay Area) who play both the digital Arena and 'old-school paper Magic' versions of the game, all have oneo universal complaint about the newest digital version of Magic. They complain how Arena's digital collection works. This of course includes the constraints, limits, and rules of a players digital collection. The old-school digital version of MTG, 'Magic: The Gathering Online' implemented collections that worked much like a paper collection. This posed many problems and challenges though (listing them would be off topic). Arena implements collections tuat fix many of tyos issues, and makes the game far more affordable while doing so. Where I have a problem is that when I complete a set if I obtain anymorw boosters from a reward or a purchuse, I get 20-40 gems for a pack that costs 200g. Arena is more affordable, but it still cost a couple hundred to complete each set especially if you complete the seperate alchemy part of the set. Then when I draft, or level up my set mastery I often get 20 gems instead of rare with the possibitie of somthing far better. Frankly opening packs on arena is somthing I care little about, but its only like that because I complete sets as they release. Its feels like WotC punishes players for spending too much money on their digital Arena products. Paper packs on the otherhand are my absolute favorite thing to buy and open. Its tye same kind of fun that peoe have playing blackjack, waiting for the card to flip. Getting a good card or special card feels like you placed a big bet and got 21. I wish that arena could, even just a little, impliment that same exciment into arena.
Here's what I propose. Recently you guys have implemented a tournament of sorts, and the prizes are real cards, entire booster boxes. I suggest that paper cards and booster packs be rewarded to players for more often. I would really love if there was a currency that one obtained only from opening boosters from sets they have already completed. Then that currency could be used to buy actual boosters. or maybe once in a while the booster will have a paper version of a card in a special print. shipping on a single card or two is cheap, and becuasel these rewards will only be obtained by people spending a decent amount of money on the game, you can charge them a small shipping fee. IDK, maybe they can wait until they have earned enough rewards so they can get them all at the same time and pay a single shipping fee instead of paying multiple shipping fees.
I am just spitballing here, but the response to the recent paper card rewards (booster boxs) was really good from what I read. I think that if you guys can create a reward system similar to what I havep suggested, it will close the gap between paper and digital. I really think this is what people would like to see, and Ithink Arena would greatly benifit from it. Honestly players would love it.
