Allow players to keep using a deck
Allow players to keep playing with the deck they built. Why make so many cards ineligible in the same form of play that they were eligible for previously? A lot of time is spent putting together the decks we like only to have to throw them out and basically start over.

You must be new to MtG. Every year, MtG has renewal. This is a cycling of legal sets for the formats. Standard is now on a 3-year cycle and Alchemy is on a 2-year cycle. This is done to prevent things from getting stale.
Also, you can still play with your older decks, you just have to change formats.
