Instant not casting on the played creature
Multiple times when I've been playing in high level games I have casted an instant to exile the creature my opponent was casting, however it forcibly makes me only exile a card that was already on the board and not the one that was being casted. wtf is up with that?

Creatures and other permanents exist only on the batlefield. On the stack there exist only SPELLS and abilities. You cannot exile a creature spell on the stack with something that exiles a target creature. To interact with something on the stack, you have to counter it, or use something that specifically interacts with an object on the stack. Or you have to wait for the spell to resolve, thus the creature spell becomes a creature permanent, which can then be exiled as it is now on the battlefield.
How can you play in a high level event and not know this? This is among the basics of the basics to even play the game.
