Vampric hunger deck did not buff the correct cards after gaining life in later game
I'm not sure why it did take a little while for me to draw the correct cards and then play them, but all the correct things were out there to put counters on these cards. It's easier to see in the screenshots.

Read your opponent's cards:
Giant Cindermaw prevents players from gaining life. Thus no life gain, and no triggers, because no life is gained.
