Beyond Playset
I cracked some EOE packs and it included a Gene Pollinator but I know with 100% certainty that I already had a playset because I thought it was weird that when I cracked packs last week I cracked 3 more when I thought I already had at least 2. This makes we question the accuracy of the wildcards.

Commons and uncommons do not have duplicate protection. And getting excess ones is normal, those cards simply contribute to the vault. Excess cards do not get you wildcards, at least not directly. A full vault gets you some (3 uncommon, 2 rares, 1 mythic).
