I exiled a glorybringer and when i went to attack, i was not prompted to exert. i was about to attack for lethal, but wasnt able to do so because i couldn't remove the opponent's creature on the board

To get the exert when attacking promt, you have to declare that creature individually as attacker not as part of a group or via attack all.
