I used absorb essence from a purging stormbrood on my lecturing scornmage however it was still able to be targeted by a nowhere to run and a floodpit drowner's enters ability. It should have had hexproof and be unable to be targeted.

It did have hexproof. But Nowhere to Run says to ignore hexproof and ward.
