Spider-Sense counters room opening
I've just played a game in which my opponent countered the "opening a room" special action with his Spider-Sense instant spell. The room enchantment in question (Unholy Annex / Ritual Chamber) has already been on the board with the Unholy Annex part already opened. I might be wrong here, but to my understanding Spider-Sense shouldn't be able to counter the room-opening special action, since it's not an instant spell, not a sorcery spell and not a triggered ability, but, crucially, a special action (that can't be countered).

Unlocking a room is a special action, yes, just like turning a face down permannt face up, and doesn't use the stack. However, the special action usually causes a trigger to go off, like unlocking Ritual Chamber giving you a demon token. And that trigger can be countered by Spider Sense.
Was the Room unlocked afterwards and you simply did not get the token? Then the trigger was countered, and nothing is wrong. Did the Ritual Chamber stay locked? Then there is something wrong, but you should also have been able to try and unlock it again.
