Molt Tender able to produce mana during summonig sickness??
Opponent was able to use Molt Tender's second activated ability during the same turn it entered the battlefield and it did not have haste.

But the player most likely had the planeswalker Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler on the field. Its first ability is a static one and reads:
"You may activate abilities of creatures you control as though those creatures had haste."
