Sigarda's aid
Was playing competitive brawl, I flashed in a Shadowspear Equipment in response to my opponent attacking , but the auto equip etb did not trigger like it was supposed to causing me to lose when the lifelink could have kept me alive, so I could attack on my turn for lethal.

Your probably only creature on the field most likely had protection from white, due to an attached Sword granting it. Sigarda's Aid is white, so the trigger comes from a white source, and is stopped by that protection. Without a legal target the trigger is removed from the stack right away. In short, Sigarda's Aid and Swords granting protection from white do not work together.
