Never given a chance to cast Three Steps Ahead to counter Mortify
I had 2 blue and 1 black mana where I was ready to counter a spell from the player that would have triggered additional actions on my end.
Opponent cast Mortify, and I was given no response option. It just destroyed my creature, while I had the mana and cards in hand to counter it.
Image of the board state post Mortify, where you can see my mana and counter cards in hand, plus game log attached.

That is due to your opponent's Voice of Victory:
"Your opponents can't cast spells during your turn."
Are you seriously playing ranked and don't know what that card does yet? It has been around and played for 1 1/2 years!
