continual freezes during gameplay
My arena client continually freezes during gameplay and eventually crashes out with windows error.
It seems to most commonly happen when a special effect is being played for a card that has one, so the ability to turn those off might be a useful start. At the moment it's unplayable.

Thanks for the report NastyNaetron. I'll be making this thread the "master post" for performance issues regarding hardware.

Ever since last Tuesday's update when Throne Brawl decks were added (as well as more animations), the game has been literally unplayable for me.
Sure it stuttered a lot before, but now I get disconnected from unity 33-50% of the matches I play.
I've lost lots of gems and gold in draft and constructed events. I've lost rank in constructed.
I love this game and have out a lot of time and love into my decks and collection, so it's really awful to barely be able to play.
I've tried calling customer support about it and haven't been able to reach anything other than automated systems that don't help to connect me with a real person.
I genuinely hope they add an option to turn off these obnoxious animations (at minimum) or fix the problems with their programing.
Like others have said, it's not my system; my system runs triple A games just fine at ultra graphics settings.
This is broken and buggy code.
I hope a developer at blizzard reads this because I can't seem to get in contact with a real person by phone or email.
I'd really hate for this dumb BS to be the reason I uninstall this game and never look back.

I'm on latest Windows 10, have 8GB main RAM and 2GB VRAM using the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M to run MTGA. All drivers have been updated and am using Fibre Broadband so have fast internet connection. There are times in-game when looking through the library, or during long games when the performance of MTGA drops dramatically, the FPS becomes low and the game feels sluggish. I've included my DxDiag file.

It's actually ridiculous. I know it isn't my computer, the game is utterly unplayable. It's a shame, idky they can't ever seem to get this right.

Yeah, I thought it was my old graphics card an old MSI Radeon HD 6850.But I just upgraded to a eVGA GTX 1660 Ti, and it's STILL stuttering. A LOT. Especially on things like deck reshuffles, like after I play a Legion Conquistador, pull out the rest of my conquistadors, and it goes to reshuffle. The animation / screen just kind of lags / freezes for a few seconds, then eventually "catches up" and it looks like the deck briefly stacks to infinity, then you hear the reshuffle sound and the deck goes back to looking normal. But even in regular games, the animation just haphazardly lags / freezes intermittently.I've opened task managed and shown Performance to see if anything on my system was maxed out. But nothing is. I've got an AMD Phenom II x6 1045T hexa-core. I look at the cores and they're all well within spec, only at about 50% usage, nothing maxed out. RAM is at like 5GB used, out of 16GB available. My SSD is barely even being used (hardly a blip on the graph). And the new GPU readout from the 1660Ti shows it's not even close to maxed out either. So, now I feel like it's down to just the game being ****** and simply liking to freeze / stutter / lag.And before you say "woo AMD Phenom II; it's old!" So what? It's clearly not maxed out. P.S. I have a brand new HP Ryzen 5 laptop I bought last Christmas, with an NVMe SSD in it. Great little system, but far more "modern" / "bleeding edge." It stutters/lags on the animations and stuff too. So, I feel like it's just the game being stupid/finnicky/laggy/stuttery, and nothing to do with the specific hardware (old AMD, new AMD, old Radeon HD 6850, new Nvidia GTX 1660Ti, nothing seem to really make a difference, it's just laggy / stuttery).

After updating Arena has become borderline unplayable due to the amount of lag and stuttering that occurs on any action taken. For example, if I play shockland, the game will momentarily freeze for sometimes 10-15 seconds before prompting me whether I'd like for the land to enter tapped or pay the 2 life, and this is happening with every card I play now. This results in constantly having the timer start running down on my turn and an inability to bank any extra timeouts so on turns when I have more than 2 plays, I will often have my turn abruptly end without finishing my selections or castings which leads to having lost several games because of this issue! I am CERTAIN it is NOT a hardware issue on my end as I am running an i7 3930k with a GTX 1080 and 32 GBs of RAM with the game installed directly on an SSD RAID 0 Array, so performance should not be an issue, especially considering that I can run nearly ANY high-end AAA game without a hitch. I've not experienced ANY issues like these in Arena until very recently since the last update. In my experience with these issues it seems to be some kind of server side issue, because I am constantly getting a "Waiting for the server" message just going changing screens on the main menu (i.e. Going from "Home" to "Profile" or "Decks" results in that message and the spinning circle, even if I'm already on the Home screen and just hit "Play" it will give me the Waiting for the Server message for 5-10 seconds before going to the matchmaking screen to wait for an opponent to be found.) I've tried opening all the TCP ports as described on the Troubleshooting page as well as restarting and closing all background applications but nothing has corrected these issues. I don't know if both issues in-game and in-menus are coorelated but it feels like they are. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to look into this and please resolve it as soon as possible, because with these issues the game is nearly unplayable!
