Algorithm Improvement
I'm sure you're getting a lot of complaints about how one-sided your algorithm is not being impartial and often times screwing over players with land draws that should not be happening in a purely random sample - so my complaint can be added to that pile.
But, an idea for changing the algorithm to improve randomization would be having the program assign a number to each card remaining in a deck and pile shuffling the cards into X amount of piles (let's say 6). It can repeat this process Y amount of times then take the middle of the pile and put those cards on top. A better template would be from the card shuffler for poker sets from stores.

You should public declare how the shuffler works because lot of players complain about it.

I run go-shintai shrine tribal in historic brawl. The deck runs 36 lands. The algorithm that "randomizes" my hand has been giving me two lands in my starting hand with annoying regularity, several times I've had to mull down to 0 and it still won't give me more than two.
Make your algorithm truly random. Don't force a balance in my hand I don't want, this has never happened with the paper copy of it I have.

Please, please, implement a way to opt out of the hand-smoothing and matchmaking algorithms. I've been tracking my games and I lose way more to the shuffler than to my own mistakes/opponents. I get hands that start with two mana and then no mana til turn six while you are drawing all the most expensive cards in your deck, or hands that start with 3 and boy those other 4 better be good because you have 5-6 lands on the top of your deck to fight whatever your opponent gets. It's like you want to remove needing to understand math and probability out of the game and make sure it's dumbed down enough for everyone. Problem is, that fundamentally changes the game for the worse (doesn't even feel like real Magic, more like a competitor knock-off) and makes veteran players who in some cases (like myself) have almost 30 years of experience building decks, supporting YOUR game and money-maker want to walk away from this platform. I'd rather go back to playing on busted third party unofficial platforms that at least offer random matches and random shuffling as opposed to your "curated to remove the need for intelligence" style of matchmaking and shuffling. At this point, it is OBVIOUS to everyone that this is a terrible system. Please, if you're so fond of the algorithm, at least allow players to opt out of it so you guys can still milk the people who can't add or cipher probabilities for themselves while still letting those of us who can do math to enjoy the game as we do in paper. You don't get to hand select or get paired with people based on what you and they are playing, again this is not native to Magic the Gathering and fundamentally changes the game for the worse. Please, don't kill this game to make a buck. They've already done that with the environment and people's minds, not Magic too, please!!

It is soooo frustrating. I played 13 times today loos 11 times. There is nothing I can do. The decks i play are top decks, have curves, have win-cons. But I ALWAYS(!) got matchups where my opponent gets a smooth curve and I don't get any of the cards that would deal with the situation. Also I play aggro I get a nicely curved out control deck as opponent - I play control on the opposit I immetiately get a nicely curved out aggro deck like boros or enchantemnts and loose immediately. I play an anti-enchantments deck and suddenly no enchantments opponents anymore while 6-7 out of 10 games before have been selesnya-enchantment. The point is if you look at the stats on i.eg aetherhub the decks are not that present in the meta. So it must be rigged. I understand that such loosing streaks might happen but this what I experienced is without a doubt systematically and really creating the worst game experience. Why do I stick to it. Because I invested in cards. You know that wizards. What's the purpose of creating such imbalances and injustices into the gameplay? Why do you favor players among other players wizards? What is your agenda?

Absolutely maddening. I’ve been playing for 2 years now and nothing has changed. It has become predictable how the match will turn out. No third mana till turn 5 or completely mana swamped till turn 12 or 13. The matchmaking is an absolute joke. I don’t know how we keep punishing ourselves by playing this rigged game.

The clusterfcuk that is arena matchmaking/shuffling continues...
Today, played 32 games on BO1 ladder and lost 22. in 18 of those losses, I either failed to make my 3rd land-drop until turn 5 or later, or, had 8 lands in the first 12 cards. Opponents always curve out. This is just today. It's a pattern that repeats itself week after week after week; but fret not, this is just representative of normal statistical play patterns. Also, apparently, everybody else on arena only plays Selesnya Enchantments, Gruul or Boros and are such bad players that they are always allowed to go first.

I too tracked my games. THIS IS NOT BIAS. in my very first day of tracking games, i went first 22 times and second 41 times. i have played every day for a month and tracked all of my games. so far, i went first 522 times and second 622 times. there was a streak where i went second 13 straight times. on the other side of that, the most i went first was 6 times straight and i was absolutely stunned to go first that many times in a row...

Hello, I already quit the game before because of this and I just got back and tried to see if this is fixed but it still isn't
It seems all my hands are always fixed to be bad, I keep getting bad draws and this makes me lose very often. Im not a bad player and in rel life I dont have this issues, it is just some algorithm in Arena that is making this. I spent too much but Im not willing to spend any more if you keep having this behavior.

Your shuffler needs to get randomized, I can send you my deck list and I can tell you which card , if I get it in my opening hand I don't have a chance . This is not a conspiracy theory. I have recorded the statistics for several hundred thousand games and every single time I get flooded with mana to the point that on average my first 10 - 15 draws will be only lands. If your shuffler has such apparent patterns maybe you should change it. I can also prove that your shuffler does favor specific deck arch types. Another thing I would like is the contact info for someone that can actually do something to address my issue as you guys are just going to feed some BS scripted garbage if you respond at all. I have a petition started that has a few thousand names of players who want the option to turn off hand smoothing for themselves. If you just ignore me I can release my findings publicly and let the community decide for themselves if arena is worth paying into.

It is not the first time it happens, it is maybe a bug or a hack, 7 draws.... 7 lands in a deck of 19 lands.... call me crazy, but the chances of that happenings once are very few, but 4 or 5 times it seems a hard problem.

I want to know who out there is getting to go first most of the time to make up for the fact I get to go second at least 8/10 matches. I've lost so many games to going second that it really is beginning to irk me after these years. This is not a case of "you only remember the negatives", I am honestly gobstruck when I get to go first.

I have a great Idea - how about you stop manipulating the game in the background. Stop with the " hand smoothing " fix the matchmaking and I don't know what to say about the " shuffler ". The game is a complete festering pile of burning garbage. How's that for a great Idea? Probably not going to happen as it seems WOTC is just bent towards separating morons from their money.
