In my scenario, i used Shapeshifter Rogue on a Heisted Teysa of the Ghost Council, retaining my Shapeshifter copy. I then used Teysa's self-exile ability that states: "return Teysa to the battlefield".

Teysa did not return to the battlefield. A Shapeshifter Rogue returned to the battlefield without a target.
