Alchemy
Sick of losing in games to stupid unbalanced alchemy cards.....keep alchemy to alchemy games. I don't like it and it ruins all the other game modes. You should be able, at least, to toggle alchemy off so you are not matched against any decks with alchemy cards. It's a rubbish format that has to default to it when choosing a game to falsy show it's been played when most ppl play by accident.

Combustion Technique incorrectly assigned damage - it should have assigned 5 damage (2 plus 3) as I had 3 lessons in my graveyard, but it assigned only 3.

I don't know who at WotC is so obsessed with Alchemy but it's terrible and completely ruins Magic. It's bad enough that the cards are not subject to the real rules of the game, but they are also almost universally incredibly overpowered and gamebreaking, providing huge advantages that real cards can't offer. I will not spend a single dime on Magic Arena until there is a non-Alchemy version of Brawl.

Not a bug, no. Due to how the layer system of applying continuous effects works, type changes ALWAYS happen before ability losing, regardless of the time stamps of the effects. So the artifacts become lands before Toph loses her abilities. The same applies to a lot of other cards, too, like Kudo, Kaito, Ashaya, Ygra, etc. If there is a type change or color change or anything else in the effect that applies before layer 6 (where ability losing happens), that effect gets applied first. And continues to apply other parts of its effects, too, even if the ability is lost by the time those parts get applied (rule 613.6).

opponent had toph the first metal bender i cast eaten by piranhas enchanting toph making it loose all abilities but new artifacts cast by opponent were still entering as lands even thou toph lost all abilities when they should only enter as artifacts

I agree, as is it is not a bug.
In my case however, after Toph is destroyed, the artifacts stayed lands. This is a bug since in that case Toph effect can't apply anymore

I certainly feel it is safe to say the general consensus towards alchemy cards is overall negative. Many arena players like myself simply want a convenient way to play magic online using decks we may already have in real life, or simply decks that we have created with cards we know of. Alchemy stands in the way of that.
Given that alchemy cards are generally powerful and their digital nature, players are left dissatisfied with the intrusion of alchemy cards into "paper" formats. Decks that do not utilize alchemy cards are very likely to fall victim to decks that usually do, with little or no resistance. Likewise, Alchemy cards do not belong in the Historic format, because they are not cards in magic's history. They aren't even cards.
Pioneer does not solve this because it invalidates decks that may be legal in historic, but not pioneer.
The way I see it, there's two ways to appease players who feel this way:
Remove Alchemy from Historic and similar formats, and potentially create Alchemy variants of these formats.
Leave these formats alone and create 'Paper' variants of these formats that do not allow alchemy cards.TLDR: Many players like myself do not like interacting with alchemy cards and want to play formats that do not use them.

another account created just to agree with this, remove that dogwater design or make another brawl format for Alchemy pigs to play with their slop against other slop

"Does this also apply to new artifacts that enter the field? For me, these were also treated as lands. Is this the expected effect?"
Yes, and yes.

That's interesting; thanks!

Copying a comment made on another person who reported the same issue:
I don't believe this is actually a bug. The issue here is that there's multiple effects going on at the same time. One (Toph's ability) is trying to change the type of other cards. One (Kenrith's Transformation) is trying to change the abilities of Toph.
When there's multiple effects going on at the same time, deciding which takes precedence isn't just a matter of (whichever was added most recently). Instead, the rules use a system of layers, with effects in one layer happening before effects in the next.
Type-changing effects (like Toph) are in Layer 4. Ability-removing effects are in Layer 6. Effectively this means Toph's ability isn't removed until it's already changed the types of the nontoken artifacts. So your artifacts should still be lands even with Kenrith's Transformation in play. For more on this particular interaction, do a search for Kenrith's Transformation and Ashaya, an older interaction which is similar in a lot of ways.

When Toph has no abilities while enchanted by "Eaten By Piranhas", artifacts are still treated as lands.
In below screenshots, Toph is enchanted, lost all abilities, yet all artifacts are still treated as Islands due to Harbinger of the Seas.

They won't do it because they're greedy and don't even know how to actually do R&D with cards anymore. MtGA is dogshit anymore because of 5 color goodstuff and alchemy being shoved down everyone's throats. i hope the company goes under and all the employees enjoy losing their jobs. They deserve it.

Why isn't there a toggle switch to allow you to exclude alchemy cards. I would accept a longer wait to play just to take these stupid cards out of my games. If I want to play Alchemy I will choose that option. Wizards constantly ask for feedback and do zero on the feedback we give them. Alchemy isn't well liked and more than enough players have asked for it to be taken out of normal format play. Why don't you listen to us.

They are busted and overpowered. Cards like Grenzo should never have been printed but these worthless **** stains at WotC are desperate and greedy and the fat neckbeards who should kill themselves pay for it. This game is dead because WotC won't curate brawl or seperate it into different formats and they need to push the worthless alchemy cards that they're too dumb to be able to balance. Tasha? Busted. Rusko? Busted. Crucias? Busted. They are unoriginal and just let you steal stuff and play **** with absolutely no downside. These employees should do the world a favor and kill themselves and Chris ***** should step down. He ruined MtG and is barely able to keep it profitable long term because he's a greedy, worthless piece of ****. Alchemy is dogshit and at least Blizzard does a better job with hearthstone. magic arena is a steaming rigged pile of dogshit and all their employees are trash.

Alchemy is overpowered garbage and has no place in brawl. Remove the two or give us explorer brawl. Alchemy cards are busted but so is the fact this shuffler is rigged.
