Critical starcage cannot be cast
The automated highlight of the card did not display, so I manually cast the two white mana and another mana and it would not cast.

(I suspect you meant Pinnacle Starcage)
Then you simply could not cast it for that cost. Probably because there was a cost increase on the field, like Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. Or something else, that disallowed your casting of an artifact.
