Error Updating Data
The game is stuck on startup.
It says : "Error Updating Data - Please check your connection and try again".
Obviously my connection work just fine. I think this is a bug.
Thank you for your time and patience

Make sure you've updated your Android Game Client on the App Store to
Version 2021.4.10.662 -

Check the comments below to make sure you're not running in the IPv4/IPv6 issue mentioned. I detail some steps on how to test this.

I've got to assume it's an incompatibility thing but, I would report it because I hear you. It's why I play on PC anytime I can. It's just a better experience but, being able to do it on the phone for a quick game/s on the go, awesome

Yes, on my Pixel 5 the app works just great. But for sure not as awesome as it could be on a convertible chromebook.

Ok, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a IPV4/IPV6 negotiation issue.
Thanks for the info on no side load either. I know there is a page somewhere in the forums that seemed where people were reporting their devices that won't work. I think I remember seeing it under "mobile" and it was a highly voted one too.
By chance, have you had it work on an Android phone?

@HeyBuferd
Thanks for you comment. Now I just installed the warp app from the PlayStore and setup VPN. Still the same problem. It also doesn't matter if I use my wifi at home or using a hot spot from my mobile phone. Any other advices to solve the problem? I didn't sideloaded the app on my chromebook, it just shows up at the store. My old chromebook for example didn't showed it up at the store.
Did someone of the developers take notice of this problem on chromebooks? -

@schatten#04209
Try seeing if you can use a VPN by chance like I mentioned below. I assume there might be something with it being a Chromebook and just not supported yet. However, your Play Store should have filtered it if it wasn't compatible.
Try the VPN route and report back if that works

I have excactly the same problem. I got my new chromebook today and installed MGT through the PlayStore. When I start the game it stucks while starting and I get the same error. My wifi is fine and is just working. I really would love to play MGT on my chromebook. Convertible and touch screen is the perfect setup for MGT.

After further digging, it appears this could be a problem with T-Mobile and Sprint APN's only using IPv6 by default. Changing your mobile APN to allow IPv4/IPv6, allows the game to work as well. You can also use a VPN service like WARP from Cloudflare to workaround the issue.

Seems this is an issue with T-Mobile and Sprint carriers...

Recently having downloaded MTGA from the Google Play Store for Early Access. I have noticed a consistent issue when I try to connect over a mobile data connection (LTE).
LTE Connection - Open MTGA - "Error Updating Data, Please Check Your Connection and Try Again"
Attempt other apps on same connection, no issue.
Switch to WiFi: No Issue with MTGA
Phone Setup: OnePlus 7T
Android: 10Update: If I connect initially on WiFi and then switch to mobile data, I get
"Waiting For the Server"
Eventually the following:
"Connection Lost
You Have Lost Your Connection to the Server"It appears the mobile version of MTGA, can not handle or recognize a mobile data connection and only recognizes a WiFi connection.
I'm using the same DNS servers and proxy configuration (no proxy) while on my own WiFi or Mobile Network.

Just installed MTGA on my laptop, and it won't get past this issue. ☹
Tried kikosphere#09010 solution, but that'd didn't work. Opened up the fresh player.log and saw this:

That seemed to start a data transfer when I started the app and get me past the error.
