Sparky stuck in "Hmmm."-ing out turn - Need a way to force Sparky's play
Bug: As of 9/7/23 Sparky is stuck in "Hmmm."-ing on their turn to play. Is Sparky teaching roping as a valid strategy now?
Situation: Sparky has any number of cards or even no cards in hand. It is Sparky's first main phase. I am in a winning position just playing cards to try to get to test a new card in my 100-card singleton deck. Sparky Hmmms for ~ 17 minutes, then I get the victory screen. Sparky doesn't even say "You got me!", such a sore loser! This happened today against Sparky's Blue, Black, Red, White, and Green decks.
The reason this is bad:
- Roping is bad enough vs. humans. It is no fun at all vs. Sparky.
- Getting a Time Out victory when testing a new card in my deck is not good. I may not even draw the card before this Analysis Paralysis state kicks in.
- The current timer is way too long to wait to have a game simply end.
- The only way to end the match is to drain my device's battery for over 15 minutes or to concede the match. Yuck.
Solution: We need a way to force Sparky's play.
Ideas:
- Set Sparky's turn timer to 15 seconds: Once time is used up "thinking" a play or pass decision is enacted
- If the player emotes "Your go" a number of times (maybe 3?) before Sparky has played, a play or pass decision is enacted
- Fix the code that has Sparky getting stuck in the first place.

hi, today i witnessed a particular bug, in a bot match, sparky coudn't stop thinking! it kept saying its thinking line and after about 5 minutes, it surrendered... the game was far from beeing finished and that really threw me off but hey, im making a report so hopefully it will get fixed!
1st time that happened so maybe its hard to reproduce but here is the log! -

Also experiencing this issue. After a Sparky thinks a while the game ends in a win. I cannot test properly if a duel lasts half as long as it should! SOS!

Experiencing this issue as well. after thinking a while Sparky literally gives up. The game ends in a win. Very irritating bug.

Sparky seems to break whenever more than 5 creatures are in play. She'll just say "Hmm..." Over and over again with sometimes conceding herself and other times you have to concede.
Steps to replicate:
Play any deck
Have 5 or more creatures out that are of higher power than Sparky's
When it's her turn she'll just say "Hmm..." softlocking the game -

Thank you for your suggestion about the troubleshooting but there is nothing helpful for this particular issue. The PC is fast enough and there is 70% free memory during the game play (and on iPad the game is the only open app with nothing in the background) and yet this happens roughly once every 3 games vs Sparky. There is not even need of a large board as this is logged on the known issues list ([Sparky] Large board states break sparky when going to combat until Sparky times out): I've seen it a couple of times on turn 3 with 3 creatures on the battlefield and added such a comment on one of the recent reports of this Sparky freeze issue. If you could transfer this detail to the investigating team it may help to easier pinpoint the reason of the issue.

Keeps happenin to me everytime I play sparky. I like to play sparky to enjoy a non-tilt sandbox to test decks and combos, but now even sparky will just rope you, causing even more tilt. This is insane...

Sometime in the last month or so when I play Bot matches the game freezes - usually during an attack phase on either side. Sometimes the game eventually (i.e many minutes later) comes back with a draw or just a victory but not always (or at least I'm too impatient to let it sit in limbo for long enough. This never used to happen in all the years I've been playing MTGA. It's not a network problem - I'm a network pro and I would known if my network was down.
As of this writing I'm on an iPad Pro (A2378) running iOS 16.7 and MTGA version 2023.29.10.800.1030578.

Endless loop of Hmms when i have them pinned ( swarm of creatures usually against a few creatures of their own) while they are in their own attack phase. please fix this by timing them out of the phase instead of having them concede.
