4. Proposed Rule Change: Fettered Cards

   Once again, there appear to be more bans coming for Magic, which is fine given the current rules, but I think it will be a persistent problem until the rules of Magic allow for a more dynamic form of banning, i.e., players should be able to prevent the use of certain cards during matches.

   My current term for this is "fettering" and the way I envision it, each player would have a fettered list of five cards (in Standard, a larger list in older formats) that if either player has them in their deck, changes those cards into fettered cards. Fettered cards will have no abilities/types, will not be able to be cast, discarded, etc. Basically, they will be useless while still taking up space in libraries and hands. Lands who only have mana abilities (e.g., basic lands, triomes) will not be able to be fettered, but other lands, (e.g. Field of the Dead) could be fettered. Because there are likely corner cases I am not considering, the specific rules would need to be developed and it might be easiest to have an "unfetterable" list that states what cannot be fettered.

   As an example as to how this might work let's consider Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath. If players found Uro to be a problematic card that their opponents were regularly using, they would add it to their fettered list, preventing themselves and their opponents gaining benefit from including the card in their deck. This would lead to a weakening of Uro decks (because it would no longer be useful to have Uro in a deck) so fewer players would include Uro in their decks, instead they would look for other cards to achieve a similar result which would increase deck diversity and avoid the need for Wizards to constantly decide whether a ban is necessary. Really broken cards (like Oko, Thief of Crowns) would be managed by being put on everyone's fettered list until so few people used it that it wasn't a problem.

   By selecting Uro and Oko as examples, I've focused on cards that ended up being banned, but fettered cards would also allow for players to limit their opponent's ability to streamline certain archetypes like a control deck by allowing the fettering of common control cards, e.g. Dovin's Veto, but given the wide variety of cards to accomplish common effects like countering, I think this is unlikely to cripple entire archetypes.

5. Wrongly calculated dmg

   Match between player named "Jesper" and "spicyredpirate" on 24.12.2020 at around 21:06.
   Fervent Champion attacks. Another Fervent Champion gives him +1/+0 boost making him 2/1 creature. Castle Embereth gives all creatures +1/+0 making this Fervent Champion 3/1 now. Rimrock Knight was played from hand as an instant giving this Fervent Knight +2/+0 making him 5/1 now.
   Next, this Fervent Knight is being blocked by my Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig who is now 7/7.
   FOR SOME REASON, this Fervent Knight KILLS my giant... Please explain how 5/1 creature kills 7/7 giant........?

   MTG Arena crashing if I try to play in colors challenge, I can't begin a game. I wasn't expreriencing these crashed since I reinstalled the game recently.

8. Bug report Kardur's Vicious Return

   I had Kardur's Vicious Return in play and when it got to the 3rd portion of the saga, I was not given a choice of creatures to target in my graveyard.

   The selection was made for me, automatically.

   Also, the selection that was made for me happened to be the same creature card I discarded in step 2 of this saga.

10. Opponent Mirror Matching

    1. I build a new deck
    2. I play a mirror match, sometimes for several games in a row

    Question (please answer): Can you provide us with details on WHY this happens, how we can avoid it, and consider a game format that has ZERO influence on player matching? What's wrong with random matching? It allows your customers to test decks properly rather than with the Arena finger on the scale.
    Question (please answer): Do you provide your customers with an explanation? How your algorithm works? Why they will never be matched against certain deck types (unless they switch the deck they are playing).

    It would be nice to have a RANDOM match once in a while. Why is Arena so dead set against this?

11. Game Freeze on Green 2021 Shrine Forfeit

    Consistently when an opponents forfeits during the activation of the green 2021 shrine the game freezes. I have to force close the program and I'm not sure I'm getting credit for wins. It's happened enough now that I think folks are using it as an exploit.

13. Game forfeitted my match

    I was playing draft. Played a Master of Winds, and it didn't draw two cards and just told me to discard a card. Super confused I did, and then it forfeited the match on me.

    Super ******!! As you know it's not easy gaining the coins needed to do draft. Who can I talk to to get this issue resolved.

14. Portrait Mode

    Hey MTG App dev team!
    I'm hoping that development for the app is in its early enough stages that my suggestion here will have some weight to it, and give a bit of pause. Because I really care about what I'm gonna write here, and I believe y'all can deliver. You're the only ones that can deliver at this point. It's something that no other major "card game" app dev/publisher has done.

    One handed. Portrait oriented. Gameplay.

    Now, hold up, before you leave, let me explain:

    You don't have to scrap the landscape functionality, of course... but having the option, to be able to rotate your phone, and use a single hand while playing, when you're limited to one hand... that's got to be feasible.

    Y'all don't have to do it for me. Think of how much more accessible it is to people who simply can't use two hands either because they don't have a second hand from some freak/war/anything accident, or those whose other hand is lame right from birth or something. Hearthstone, Gwent, they don't offer portrait mode gameplay. Imagine the praise from the minority when they come to you because it's a feature that you have over everyone else.

    And it wouldn't just be for them, but people like me. Who kills time "pretending" to be doing important things on my phone in portrait mode. I can't fool anybody that I'm doing important things like looking at the stock market the moment I turn my phone landscape, they know I'm up to no good with a game or something. Right? Or how about other people who have two hands but are incapable of using one, because they're holding a bag, or a ******** the subway, or the hand of a loved one (paha). There's so many benefits to portrait, even before we consider the benefit of having a card game based game in portrait mode to begin with.

    Beyond just catering to make a better phone experience overall, this is a card game. Having the possibility of a portrait mode would allow me to be able to view the card art in all its glory in proper aspect ratio. Players wouldn't have to read tiny words. It would just fill the screen naturally. How much more gloating could I do, in showing off my planeswalker, when I have my phone in portrait mode, the card filling the entirety of the screen as I brag to my friends of my latest pulls. Sure, initially, you might have it so that not all cards are viewable on screen when battling. But do I need to see how many lands I have? Not really. Would you have to do some creative things with camera angles and UI when it comes to the attack phase, maybe. But cards are vertical. It's only natural that everything should fit and feel right at home in the vertical orientation because phones are just about the same size and aspect ratio as physical cards. I can't tell you how many card games I've opened that I've stopped playing because I just don't have the time to dedicate two hands to my phone. So I download alternatives that do. And they're usually not even card games. But I wish they would be.

    You want a good example of an app that can be literally any orientation, any size, and still work? Elder Scrolls Blades. Boring game, but you can play that game portrait, landscape, *, I've even played it *half sized by splitting my phone screen in two, with a youtube video on top, and the game on bottom. And Blades still runs FLAWLESSLY. It's extremely versatile and caters to the phone market and power users. Which once again, no big time card games on the market (that I've ever played) do. Imagine the dominance MTG could have in this area. It's a good move. And even if it's half baked and bugged to ** in some shadow realm beta-channel, you're gonna have people (like me and the others above) singing absolute praises.

    And heck, this portrait functionality could extend and be beyond helpful to those on tablets, and those coding weirdos with the vertical monitors. Everyone benefits. Literally everyone. And with foldable and flippable phones coming in the near future, why not just get that portion of the coding done and ready to go before the revolution? Already be ready for the tech coming everyone's way. Like ES: Blades is gonna be.

    If vertical orientation is implemented, I would absolutely dedicate more time to MTG. I'd buy packs. I'd get into the ol level up tree system season pass thing or whatever it is. Why? Because now it's accessible at any time, and any place. Not just those times and places that require both of my hands, but at times where I've only got one hand, and times where I've got an image to uphold of me pretending to look smart or involved or sophisticated or whatever paha.

    I just can't stress enough how important a portrait mode would be for pushing into the mobile market. And with Magic, my most beloved card game of them all, I would hope that you guys do it better than everyone else, and do it right. Don't let this be just an suggestion from a wackjob of a person that's read a single time by some poor person who manages the forums, but really, REALLY consider how portrait mode could benefit the longevity of the app. How it could benefit everyone through a few slight changes of accessibility. I crave to play more MTG. But without portrait mode, for me, it's just going to die off, like the card game apps before it. Thank you for your time.

15. Improving Emergent Ultimatum's window

    When an opponent casts Emergent Ultimatum, the window has me to select 1 card to deny casting. As one be strongly conscious of 2 cards with "opponent casts and I will not lose immediately", the window sometimes prompts mistake.
    It will be better if Emergent Ultimatmu have me to separate "2 cards to allow casting" and "1 card to deny casting", similarly to Atris, Oracle of Half-Truths.

    After receiving the code for the Seb McKinnon Art Series Secret Lair Sleeve and unlocking it I've noticed that the art is quite off-center on the card back. Some of the art is croped on one side while on the other side it looks ok.

17. counters not working on creatures.

    it happened twice already to me and cost me both matches. my essence scatter countering broodmother. it will asked are you sure? when you click yes the spell will still resolve. same with another spell i countered it ask me if im sure i want to counter then the spell resolve. it also happened with my frilled mystic. please address this bug it cost me more matches today. should,ve been mythic now if those spells didn't bug.

18. Opponent hovering your cards with a software/bot to bug your client

    Can Wizard please fix their client against bot hovering? I watched Predis stream yesterday, while waiting for his next match in the CFB Clash Qualifier Day 2 tournament(11-1-0 btw) Predi played some standard ranked in plat vs Ozon. After it was clear he would lose match 1, he just hoverd over Predis lands and made his client bug out.

    This happened to me a couple of times and I tot there was something wrong on my side, until I saw this post. Apparently more and more people are abusing this bug. This player, Ozon, seem to be doing it every chance he gets to reach mythic. This kinda players need to be punish. So please fix the bug.
