   1. THE CORE PROBLEM: THE 50% WIN-CONDITION DISCOUNT The current state of the Standard format highlights a critical architectural flaw regarding poison mechanics. By design, Magic: The Gathering balances aggressive and midrange strategies around a universal 20-point life total. Poison fundamentally shifts this threshold by introducing an alternate 10-counter win condition. This gives low-to-the-ground, hyper-efficient toxic decks a permanent 50% discount on victory. Traditional interactive decks are forced to manage complex combat phases, resources, and life totals. Meanwhile, poison players completely ignore these traditional mechanics. They treat the opponent’s life total as if it does not exist.
   2. OPPRESSIVE FRONT-LINE PROTECTION MECHANICS This structural mismatch is exacerbated by the printing of hyper-efficient protection abilities on cheap, low-cost threats. • The Targeting Penalty: Creatures like Venerated Rotpriest turn an opponent's own interaction into a penalty trap. It punishes standard 1-for-1 removal spells by applying poison counters before the spell even resolves. • Oppressive Ward Costs: Cards featuring mechanics like "Ward — Get five poison counters"completely warp the defensive landscape. A player faces an immediate 50% death sentence just for attempting to target a single 3-mana or 4-mana creature. Because aggressive poison threats are incredibly fast and cheap, traditional decks cannot outrace or interact with them consistently using standard 1-for-1 removal or soft countermagic. The card advantage math is completely broken against fair decks.
   3. THE SOLUTION: A STANDARD-LEGAL SAFETY VALVE Wizards of the Coast routinely prints safety valves to prevent specific mechanics from completely dominating a format. However, Standard currently lacks any card that carries the rules text "Players can't get counters" or "Creatures opponents control can't have counters put on them." While tools like Solemnity, Melira, Sylvok Outcast, and Blightbeetle historically kept these shortcuts honest, their absence in modern Standard leaves traditional deckbuilders in a mechanical stranglehold. Players should not be forced to engineer hyper-specific, multi-layered rogue combo matrices just to bypass targeting traps and survive an un-interactive format.
   4. CONCLUSION To restore competitive integrity and structural balance to the Standard ladder, the Play Design team needs to introduce a dedicated, standard-legal countermeasure. Printing an interactive card or static enchantment that stalls or fully prevents counter accumulation on players will restore fair rules of engagement and force all archetypes to respect the traditional architecture of the game.

5. Competitive Brawl Ban List

   Suggestions for better gameplay in Competitive Brawl. This is based on game experience and years of playing Duel Commander. I believe that at some point, Competitive Brawl can translate to paper, and I want to be part of that drive.

   Suggested Format Changes –
   Aside from game data, player feedback and gameplay should provide insights on what cards are unhealthy, and more importantly, what’s not fun for gameplay. Aside from my experience with years of Duel Commander tournaments, the below changes and banlist suggestions is based on my current gameplay in competitive brawl. I believe there’s tons of potential here, where the format can be translated to paper at some point.

   A meta where Burn can’t check strong decks, is unhealthy. Lower down starting life to 23 or 20. This allows FAIR aggro decks to match up against heavy control and quick combo decks.
   Banlist Suggestions
   Ban as commander
   Derevi
   Ban justification
   Although rare in my game logs, I don't remember ever winning against a Derevi deck, regardless of which commander I used. There's a reason for it being banned in Duel Commander, and which should justify the banning in competitive, or even just Brawl in general.
   Bypassing commander tax - The ability to flash in a commander without restrictions and gain command zone advantage. Unless you tax the ability, then this is ban-worthy
   Enables tempo abuse with tap/untap ability, and synergizes perfectly with Winter Moon.

   Yuriko - Oversaturated in the meta.
   – There’s a reason why she is banned in duel.
   Bypassing commander tax - Entering play for 2 mana, gaining unavoidable damage, and card draw for free, compounding the ability when you have extra ninja's provide OP advantage. If you aren’t the starting player and is unable to mulligan for 2 straight removals, you will almost always lose.
   The meta data should already explain it.

   Nashi - Another brawl meta staple.
   Sultai colors provide maximum value for blinking and tutors that are given free when Nashi resolves. All the more, it provides flexibility on providing the player on what you need in various situations technically for free. Need a creature, need removal, counter, combo piece (Oracle,Tainted Pact). What do you need? YES.

   Emry,
   Ban Justification
   Requires high artifact and graveyard interaction. Cheats Commander Tax. Easy to pull combo wins.

   Uro –
   Ban Justification
   Consistent card, land, and life advantage, given that graveyard is far and few, plus, it's easy to fill your graveyard, making it almost unbeatable during mid and late game. Same reasoning where Burn us unplayable in the format.
   Urza, High Lord or Paradox Engine - Can ban either or.

   BAN in 99
   Natural Order -
   Provides a cheap (4cmc for green can be done in turn 2-3) tutor-to-play advantage. Llanowar Elves to Eldrazzi. Nuff said. Llanowar Elves to Atraxa

   Channel - Turn 2 Eldrazi, Ugin, or any other colorless spells. Mike and Raph on turn 3 too, paired with other fast mana.
   Chrome Mox. Llanowar Elves, Exploration, Utopia Sprawl, Burgeoning. Dead if you don't have interactions
   Wary Zone Guard
   - Highly oppressive creature. Land recursion, 3mana 4/4.
   Watch list -
   Lumra - Recently banned in Dual Commander due to it's resilience in during mid and late game, making it difficult to win against.

   Ban Stripmine, print Wasteland, especially with the rampant land GY recursion from green decks

   Library of Alexandria - Provides unparallel card advantage, esp for control decks., allowing them consistent card draw without penalties.

   Arena nerfs –
   Un-nerf
   Not all Arena nerfs are bad, but some can be reverted back to their original ability.
   DRC - 1 cmc 3/3 flyer once delirium is met can still easily be interacted with. It's the Surveil ability that provides more value. There are a lot more toxic cards than this one being nerfed

   Orcish Bowmasters - The inherent ability keeps a lot of abusive draw abilities in control. Creature can also be easily be removed. This is not an oppressive card in competitive brawl.

   Winota - A bit hit and miss. 4cmc creature can be challenging to cast without a lot of ramp such as 0cmc artifacts (lotus petal, mox diamonds, etc).

   Galvanic Discharge - Given that the format has a lot of creatures have more than 3 toughness, Red needs more consistent 3 damage removals, energy itself is not a factor as it can't be abused in 1v1.

   Nerf
   Seek abilities – Now these are oppressive in the sense that it can’t be interacted with. Free resource with no penalty. Not all colors have stifle effects to prevent a seek ability, and can't be countered with can't search abilities.

7. Best of Three Sideboarding is corrupted/bugged

   Best of Three Sideboarding is corrupted/bugged - the client shows a corrupted screen (avatar selection?) with buttons that don't do anything. Cannot sideboard of even confirm - have to wait for timer to expire.

8. repeal

   I used Jace, Telepath Unbound to "Flashback" Repeal. The game would not let me flashback it for X=0 also there were tokens that are legal targets.

9. 【重大】アプリケーションが起動しない

   8月26日のアップデート後、MTGA.exeのアイコンを起動しても、

   『アプリケーションを正しく起動できませんでした（0xc0000005）。
   　[OK]をクリックしてアプリケーションを閉じてください。』

   というダイアログが表示され、ゲームが起動しません。
   前日までは問題なく起動・プレイできていました。
   念のため、Windowsの再起動、MTGAアプリの再インストールなどを行いましたが、同様でした。
   アプリは、改めて日本語公式サイトからダウンロードし直したものです。

   現状、何の手も打てず、ゲームをプレイすることができません。
   先日のアップロードは何だったのでしょうか。非常に困っています。

10. gnashing of teeth exile for second choice even if the card doesn't say it does

    Gnashing of teeth does not say for the second choice : exile if they would die this turn. It does only say that for the first choice of -5/-5. I sent the log. Opponent used it on my fearsome goblin pair and it did go direct in exile while he also killed another unit with -1/-1 choice.

13. randomly choose lands when playing

    Would love a switch where basic lands could use random art available rather than being locked into to the lands picked at deck construction time.

    Multiple options:
    * Use the lands specifically chosen for this deck
    * Pick a random art for each basic type and use that consisently
    * Pick a random art for every basic land.

    Playing in paper, you always have variety. Would be nice to be able to set the preference in the deck builder itself.

14. Ranking up while losing in limited events

    I've played 4 premier drafts of HOB, I have not won more than 2 games in any single event and I'm ranking up. This is evil. I'm playing a ranked queue against players consistently above my skill level winning 33% - 40% of my games and ranking up. Half of the issue is the lack of participation in Universes Beyond, players decay far below their skill level and prey upon weaker players. The other half of the issue is WOTC's ranking system that inflates player rankings when they are losing more than 50% of their games, 2 pips per win -1 pip per loss (going 1-2 is net 0). Which ensures that a player losing 60% of their games ranks to gold/ plat and receives no bonus rewards from any limited events. Limited, especially at the lowest ranks, should be a place where new players can learn and not lose 2/3 of their games and be locked out of rewards.

15. Strip Mine needs to be banned in Competitive Brawl

    There are multiple ways to recurse it from the graveyard and there is no way to interact with it on the stack. There are several commanders that abuse it and it's fairly easy to search out. Frankly, I'm not sure how Winota can stay nerfed but strip mine is fine?

16. when i click on the full screen option every time I change windows it goes back to normal size screen.

    is there a way to keep the full screen option on throughout the gameplay and menus? or is there a problem on my end with any of the setting on my computer?

17. Bug

    For some reason when I play my Umori companion deck, even though in deck building it still says my companion is legal and set. But as some as I start a game my companion is not visible or usable.
    
    I don’t know how to fix on my end. It happened after two updates ago, right around when marvel cards were added

18. Comoanion not working in brawl

    I have a brawl deck with lurrus companion, it does not show any issue or warning in the deck builder but when I play with the deck the companion does not appear, as if I did not have it in the deck.

19. Scute Swarm Token Generation

    I use cultivator colossus to gen scute swarm tokens. Any land drop over 250 tokens start to subtract from your total amount that are already on the battlefield.

    I should have 250 on the first drop then 500 with a total of at least 1250 scutes. I only ever get 253.

    No lands. My deck has 75 lands, and out of the past 20 games, I’ve gotten 2 lands in the initial deal and not much more after that. You’ve changed something in the shuffling algorithm and it suck’s
